Default 1958 Panhead

We inherited this bike, and have no idea the proper venue to sell it. I dont have enough room to keep it, or the mechanical knowledge to keep up with an older bike. Local dealers are hesitant because nobody really knows what its worth. Any advice?

Well, it is definitely "customized". The value now depends how much of what is there is actually OEM/NOS vs how much that is there is aftermarket. Without know more it is only a guessing game.

Does title match the motor VIN#

It's green.

I see you are in the Fort Worth area. There are a couple of guys that work at Wilson's Biker Gear that might be able to help you out. I can't remember the address, but it's in the Stockyards area. Ask for Stanley.

To help you out from here, we would need a boat load of pics, but I would start with a pic of the VIN# on the motor. Cover the last couple of digits if you have concerns. We are trying to see if it is a factory #. And as asked, what does the Title list the bike as?

From what I can tell, and Ibe had a couple of people look at it, the title and frame vin match (1959), but the engine vin is 1958. I have a walk around video, hopefully the link works.

gunsligernation, got the link to your second post. Tins, speedometer for sure are aftermarket (dash cover looks correct). Probably passing lamps and turnsignals are not original. Tailight is not correct for year, could be repop or OEM but can't tell from first view. Handlebars and controls look like OEM. Thinking your Cowl and legs could also be OEM. Can't tell with the rims (need to puill rubber off to look for KH markings), but spokes were not chromed in 58. Looks like the mechanical advance is still there so that is good. Obviusly seat, exhause are not OEM as are footboards and rubber mats.

Just my perspective from the brief video you posted.

And...........you state the title and "frame VIN match"........FYI HD nevere titled frames until 1970 year models, so that is definitely inconsistent.

The VIN# is located on the left side of the engine, on the case just below the base of the cylinders. 1958 and 1959 VIN# will look like this

Any chance you can pull the bike out and get some flicks of the VIN#?

If the vin is correct and matches the title what you have there is a nice custom. Definitely an everyday runner. West Coast pricing could get you from $7500 to perhaps as much as $10.5 for the right buyer

here is the title. I am out of town and waiting on my wife to send the engine stamp. It's always possible I am remembering incorrectly.

Title is a good start, that is a plausible VIN # for 1959. Now the VIN# on the motor needs to match that, with a font consistent with the picture from Panz. As stated, frame numbers are not part of the conversation in '59.

I stand corrected. It was an engine number.
