Default External oil filter

Anyone, and I assume everyone, having trouble with Taiwan Tedd's POS oil filter leaking like the Valdez? I've tried everything to stop it. Bottom line is, it's a terrible design. I think I'm gonna put the filter head on a lathe and enlarge the O.D. on the gasket seat, then make a new gasket. Seems like the flared end on the canister is just pushing the gasket inward. You think the gulf oil spill was bad, you should see my $5.00/qt oil just pumping out! Guess I don't have to worry about rust and it keeps the dust down in my driveway! Any suggestions?

Default POS filter

POS stands for piece of sh*t! Not sure of part number, but it's the replica external filter used with hard lines. I ended up bringing it to my machinist and put it on a lathe and made the O.D. on the filter head wider so I could make a larger gasket. I also took the canister and ground a flat on the sealing edge. Worked like a charm. My other buddies with Pan's say that I'm the only one they know that has this filter that doesn't leak. Ah, Chinese engineering at it's finest. LOL

I was going to put one of these oil filters on my 52 pan /shovel but after installing the chrome mounting piece off the frame (right side by the seat ) I decided the brass skull VT P/N 21-2015 looked better so I went with that ! I'm so used to Shovelhead forums that the POS term threw me On there forum one can say anything as you probably know

I try to be a little more sufistamacated than that. After all we are Pan owners! If you decide to go with that filter let me know and I'll try to give you a little more detail on how to make it right. You will need a machinist but it's real simple, and didn't take but 5 minutes. Merry Christmas to all. Stay safe, a lotta as*holes out there on the roads!

Hey 57, sounds like a nice fix.
I stuck a k&p engineering oil filter on my 03 dresser, nice aluminum housing and cleanable reusable stainless steel aircraft quality filter.
I wanna put 1 on my 48, but still need to find out if they make a mounting bracket for it if they do I'll post it.
Good luck oil leaks suck.
