Well,
I just purchased another set, I was told oh Ya same repro as OEM. Doesn't fit again to wide.
Is there any company that makes them the same size as OEM this is rediculous.
Viper do you mean too wide as in wider than the covers? Can you post a pic? Are you using stock heads?
I think I have a set of polished aluminum and maybe a set of steel D-rings. I can post a pic to show they fit my OEM heads.
Where did you get the second set? Have to say this fitment prioblem is a first for me.
Yes, they are wider than the covers in one area, I got a set from JPcycles (aftermarket) and the thickness is the same but width is too much and sticks out beyond the cover and even out beyond head by 1/8" where this picture shows 1/4". all other areas seem fine but this area is where it will hit the seat post when installing the motor and this is my problem with motor sitting down on rear mounts, I bought a set from debrix as well and same thing this area is to wide, They all tell me same thing these repros are the same as stock but they are not.
here is a photo of my stock one.

Sometime today I will pull out a set of stock valve covers that I have set aside for my 65 pan, i will check the steel and alumninum D-rings I have and post some pics for you and you can tell me how they match to yours.
And just curious. If the area is too wide do the bolt holes line up properly or would you need to hog them out in order to get them to align with the covers/heads?
Herz a few pics of rhe thjin D-rings that I had had for a very long time. You will notice they fit much tighter around the covers. Not able to get pics of the ones I have on my 65 but they are the thick ones and not thin, so I am really not sure if these are helpful or not. I do know that the ones on my 65 came with the bike.
Panz,
My D rings holes line up fine but the area where on my picture shows 1/4" wide is actually 3/8" or better and sticks out beyond the pan cover so I cannot get the engine to sit on the rear mount as it jams on the seat post tube. The ones in the picture I posted are my stock ones which are thick but narrow around the curves, your pictures look like they narrow out as well, maybe fit, maybe not I really can't tell do you have a measurement all around and are they the same width all around?
thankyou
