ok, so screwing with my pan( 56 uppers and std lower ). static comp. test came out to 45-50 #1&2, squirt marvel in cyls. retest with 100#'s both. tore front cyl. off. 30 over, newish rebuild(already done before bought bike) still has good cross hatch .002 taper but a bad spot on cyl. bore not taken out from the rering job. already ordered new .040 overs and moly rings 8.5 to 1's( hope this skinnyass can kick her over when done). any way need advice on ign. probs. two bolt hold down, aftermarkt timer, points. needs new shaft bushings, points move all over the place when setting them. interested in maybe upgrading to dyna s or ? my question is.... can the cone motor plates be converted to the early style timers or does anyone ( dynatek) make a conversion for them? haven't found any yet!
Mallory makes an electronic distributor for Pans. Says it's made in the USA. I have no personal experience with them.
Edit: Just re-read your post and see that you are looking for a breakerless conversion for your timer. I don't recall seeing any of those. The Mallory is a complete replacement distributor. Best of luck in your quest.

yeah, not too sure 'bout the mallory unit, if nothing works probably stay with points and just rebuild my timer. one other question, will the needle brng advance unit work/fit on the older timers ?
how much different is the plate on a cone shovel to the old timer plate size?
google up V twins book in the shovel head section with the ignitions he has the point replacements all the way back to the 30s VLV type
we machined the top cover points platform and the out side of the dyna to get the chrome cap to go back on, the thing that takes time is the rotor needs a reatainer and we make a clip groove for it to hold it on, than center the works set the correct location and screw it down in place - all my own flatsides have them they are mine and i did not care about the time involved
