Colorite
If this needs to be moved, please do so...
Disappointed in Colorite. I prepped five parts exactly the same. Followed their YouTube video to a T. Primed, sprayed the base and the top coat. I was a little short on the top coat so I ordered two more cans. Paint arrived today, sprayed three of the five parts, no problem. Went to the last two, sprayed the top coat and the paint started to crack on part number four. Maybe it was the contents of the can...? I opened the second can, sprayed part number five, same thing. Paint cracked.
I called Colorite and was told to call the Tech support number. Called the number, explained the problem to the lady I spoke to, she said I waited more than twelve hours to spray the parts betweek coats. How could that be if all five parts sat for the same amount of time and two of the five have issues? Also, no where in the YouTube video was it mentioned about excessive wait time between coats.
She could have cared less.
I called the main number told the gentleman the same thing, he too could have cared less.
It's a shame because the paint is very close to OEM. The first picture is the saddlebag latch that I painted late last week, ran short of paint and ordered more paint. Painted it today and the paint cracked. The second picture is the rear CVO fender facia, also painted late last week and also painted today with the same paint.
Maybe a professional painter can chime in and tell me what I did wrong.

There is a recoat time for base coats and that will cause the issue you had. Basically the new paint is reacting with the chemicals of the old. Not sure why it didn’t happen on all the parts, maybe some costs were laid heavier than others, but the tech sheets do say the parts needed to painted within a certain window

My experience when painting , tack coating is the best way , but since you ran out of paint , you didn't have a choice but to wait . When the paint starts to dry and cure , spraying on more coats , giving the surface a light sanding does help , or a very thin coat before apply a solid coat over the whole piece . It's quite possible that the paint on the larger piece had time to " tack " before you completely covered it , if that makes sense . The latch didn't have time to tack before you sprayed a good layer on it .
Also , when using paint cans , I always shake them , before / during , mixing them while painting , I don't let them sit for very long .
Just my experience , hope you get this figured out .
