Default Drive belt dust?

After 150 mile ride,I'm finding(what I believe) is drive belt dust on my Fatboy rear rim. There seams to be about as much of this very black uniform dust as you get on the front rim from the brake pad.I have checked the alignment from the middle of the swingarm pivit to the middle of the rear axle, within a 16th of an inch,no rubbing noise,or any other obvious signs of mis-alignment.Anyone else notice this,or is it normal?

Most likely what you're finding is brake dust. I've never seen a belt shed dust without an obviuos interference problem. And at that, you would be likely to find large particles or small pieces of black rubber-like material on the rim.

This is a solid wheel Fatboy, brake rotor is on the other side. The "dust"does look like brake dust though.

It gets all over...both sides. Just be sure to wash it out as it stains alloy wheels.

Being I ride my Fatboy like a V Rod,using Lyndal Z pads, you guys are most likely correct.I do find the Lyndal pads produce as much dust as the stock pads, braking is a world better though. The Skullfire wheels make cleaning easier than the stock rims.

I get brake dust on both side of the wheel also. Only have halfthe amount of duston the left side. Seems to travel through the slots in the fxstc wheel to the other side. Just part of normal operation.

Just inspection the belt will tell you if it's rubbing or not. More common on v-rods.

The belt will rub some but you should not worry,Brake dust and road grime mix together really cannot stop it.Just pick up a good wheel cleaner.
