I have an issue with my trans. I can't turn my rear wheel in nutral. It seems like something is stuck and I have no idea what to do. I can turn the wheel about half way in either direction and then it stops. Can anyone help me.

 

Open up your primary cover and see if the clutch is moving when you pull the lever.

 

We did that, it seems to be moving fine. The fluid was drained out of the trans and it looks clean.

 

This is normal. If you want to turn the wheel put it in neutral...

 

Really??? It needs to be in neutral??Come on... Don't you think that was the first thing? If the neutral light is on and you find that spot in between first and 2nd, I think we're in neutral....

Try this.....pull in the clutch, fire up the engine, with the clutch in, try running it thru the gears a couple of times, then hit neutral again and see if it works. Sounds like your getting a false neutral to me, but Im not an expert by any means. will it roll with the clutch engaged??

 

No, it doesn't move no matter what you do, I've been trying to help him via phone, haven't looked at it in person yet... We're just trying to get some other ideas before I head up there to look at it.

 

If I start my bike andputit in gear, the bike stalls out. The tire will not move. When the bike is in neutral, I can turn the tire about half way in either direction. I am at a loss for words and can't imagine what the problem could be. The bike has sat on my jack all winter and was running fine last season.
