Primary/Transmission/Driveline/ClutchFind answers to general powertrain, primary and transmission. Have clutch issues and need suggestions? Post them here.
Ive just put my bike together after a winter strip down (95 fat boy).
With the bike still on the lift if I engage nuetral I can spin the back wheel freely, however with the bike in first gear clutch lever pulled in I cant spin the wheel ( it locks up as if in gear )
Ive adjusted the clutch 3 times as per the manual is this normal? and dose it make any diffence not having any lube in the primary? havent put any in yet in case Ive to strip it down again.
When I stripped the bike down I didnt strip the clutch so Im a bit puzzeled to what the problem is.
All Ive done is pull the motor and transmision and resprayed them, no mechanical changes,
Cant turn the motor over by hand with the wheel, would the wheel spin as if it was in nuetral with it in gear and thre clutch pulled in? I thought that would be a way of testing the clutch before I filled the primary with oil......
Just tried it again, ajusted the clutch put the bike into neutral wheel spins put it into gear and pull the clutch in and I can turn the wheel ,its just stiff. Release the clutch and it starts to lock up, which is me try to turn the engine by hand I guess.
Dose this sound right to any of you mechanics out there?
I think this mightprove if yove been up late trying to do some thing go to bed have good nights sleepand try againthe morning .
