No Friday Rideday, but I did wash and wax the Limited today, in preparation for tomorrow's ride.

It doesn't look like it has 100,000 plus miles on it.

Awesome fall day. Only about 50 degrees farenheit when I left the house, just after 11am.

Bundled up and ready yo roll.

Stopped along the Rock River for a color check.

Took the Stage Coach Trail to Galena, and headed to Cassville, WI to grab the ferry to Iowa, one last time this year.

Not a bad place to live.

Last one on the ferry.

A nice lady offered to take a pic for me.

No river traffic, and no wind today.

An Iowa overlook.

Bellevue State Park.

Sun starting to set while in the state park.

Fuel stop in Fulton, IL just before heading east, towards home.

This is where my gas cap goes, every time i fuel up.

An awesome 7 hour, 3 state day.

Have you ridden up to the top of Mt Hosmer Park in Lansing IA?

Nope, but apparently I've rode by there a few times. I'll have to check out the view next time I'm in the area.

Enjoy the photos you've posted, Eastern IA was home turf for me for many years and I've ridden that Mississippi River, IA, IL, WI, MN, MO area extensively.

There was a 16% chance of rain this morning, but I didn't let that, the clouds or the 50 degree temp keep me from heading out on a ride.

Customary pre-ride selfie.

The clouds came and went, a few times.

Made my way down to Morris, then rode along the Illinois River to Starved Rock State Park, where I stretched my legs.

Blue sky peeking through the trees.

The new Utica bridge has zero appeal.

A parting shot, before I left the park.

You knew this was going to happen.

I stopped to check out this corner, in Dixon, which is President Ronald Reagan's boyhood home town.

This explains the sculpture.

Tear down that wall!

Old Glory.

A color check in Oregon, looking across the Rock River at Blackhawk statue.

I rode up the Rock, crossed over in Rockford and rode back down the other side, to Lowell Park, home of Chief Blackhawk.

Watching the sunset.

Standing tall and proud.

As I made my way home the sun said goodbye, and the temps dropped.....and my heated jacket was turned on.

Good ride, but there probably won't be many more.

George and Chum-chum were glad to have me back.

Barely hit 50 degrees today, and winds were steady at 15 mph, with even bigger gusts, but the sun was out and I wanted to get in one more ride on the Night Rod, before the bottom falls out, weather wise.

I just my go to ride, up around the Rockford airport then down RT 2, along the Rock River to Dixon, then home via the twisties.

I put on my Milwaukee heated jacket. Itvdid ok, but the plug in HD gear on the Ultra is better.

Watched this beast take off, as well as an old fighter jet.

Another color check, and probably the last one on the Night Rod.

No boats in sight.

A stop at Nachusa Grasslands. No bison in sight today.

Nice clear day.

There is a big herd of bison that roams these grasslands, but they were probably down in a valley out of the wind.

All I wanted today was a hundred miles.....mission accomplished. This season the Night Rod got more miles put on it than in any other season. I'll have to check and see how many I did. Overall, I'm pretty sure I am way short of last years total.

I'm way behind on miles, compared to last year, but I'm still over 15,000 so I can't really complain. It's sometimes hard to get motivated for a ride, when I have to keep traveling the same roads for like a hundred miles before I find a new one....lol. Once winter sets in I'll be wishing I had gotten out more.

I am working on a plan to run from Vancouver to big Bend in Texas in May… I’d like to camp with the rattlesnakes.
