Burkes Garden
My inspiration is Rocky (aka Canadian Rocky II and neither my writing will come close.
Sometime ago I went up to Tazewell VA and rode 16 The Back of the Dragon. When telling a friend of the ride he ask if I went to Burke's Garden. I told him no I hadn't heard of it. I looked it up and two weeks ago I rode to Tazewell again, about 100 miles and rode over to the Garden.
The ride in was very nice crossing a ridge with lots of nice twistees and I thought that getting in was worth the ride. Burkes Garden is the highest valley in Virginia and what I found was amazing. Beautiful scenery everywhere. It was hard to figure out just what to take a picture of. So here is what I got and I can tell you it doesn't come close.
Nickelsville on the way up, foggy morning
Just liked this place
Amish Store, they said they were camera shy so I didn't take anythng inside. Also cash only.
The signs tell the direction and distance to different farms and houses.
Just trying to show some of the farms.
Just some of the scenery. There are several roads with a loop going around the inside of the valley.
Just a couple of shots on the road in.
Wish I could've did better it is well worth seeing. If you are in the area around Bluefield VA well worth the side trip.
But a warning here. I was heading in seven years ago and a milk tanker was coming down around a blind turn taking up both lanes forcing me onto a small dirt shoulder with a ditch on the side. Because of the slope when I stopped I came very close to dropping it into the ditch.
The rear wheels of the trailer missed my engine bars by inches and I was well clear of the pavement. The ******* tanker drivers here don't give a rip about running you off the road.
There's less room around the turns than meeting a tractor trailer on the Dragon.

It's the same on the Devil's Triangle here in Tennessee...There is a coal tipple on that road and the coal truck drivers will run you off the road and smile.
