Default Hwy 12, Lolo Pass, Missoula MT to Kooskia ID

Return trip home from Sturgis SD, took us through Lolo Pass (Hwy 12) from Missoula MT to Kooskia ID. I got to say, this leg of our return trip, made it to my top 10 riding roads. Even with the rain, the ride was spectacular and awesome. Stopped in Kooskia ID for lunch at the Kooskia Cafe. Fun place to stop with a small town vibe. Didn't take a lot of pics, but here are a few (don't even come close to telling the story).

Very nice ride. I rode it last year. Five years before I had planned to ride it. When I got below Missoula, it was raining to the west and I kept riding south.

One of my favourite 99 miles of road.

That stretch of road is always fun to ride.
As kids we spent allot of time swimming at Lolo hot springs.

Nice ride. We were scheduled to do that route in 2014 with a bunch of friends. However, my wife spent 6 weeks in the hospital at that time.

Nice ride for sure, have only done it once on two wheels but have also rafted the Lochsa and Selway a few times.

We were riding with my brother who came down with a nasty batch of food poisoning and had to pull over and puke every 10 miles, so that took a bit of the fun out of it. Nonetheless saw three moose around Lolo Hot Springs where we spent the night so that was pretty cool.

Multiple trips on the Selway? Lucky! My friend had a permit one year and I was all ready to go when my cousin decided that was the week she was gonna get married. My truck and my friend went. I gotta get there one of these years!

Well I was working as a rafting guide in the summers back then so I was well-connected and got invited on lots of trips. I did get lucky once and drew a permit though.

The Selway is amazing, more challenging and less crowded than the Middle Fork/Salmon.
