Sacramento to Carson City is lovely.

Takes you right through South Lake Tahoe.

It'll be hotter than Hell across Nevada.

Haven't been further East.

When are you going? I'm riding Hwy 50 this Friday with some friends. We're doing a Saddle Sore 1000, going east on 50 and coming back on 80. I should be able to give you a pretty good idea by Saturday.

So far, I've only ridden it from Delta, UT to Ely, NV. At that point I headed south to Tonapah. There are parts of the road from Delta to Ely that are quite pretty, but it's nowhere near the prettiest road in the state.

I broke down on that road between Ely and Carson City, and I can honestly tell you why it's called lonliest highway in America. It's nice wide open riding, good highway for the most part. there's a stripper joint way out in the desert with a chainlink fence topped with barb wire and the Harley shop in Carson City doesn't know jack ****. Found a local guy's personal shop that was very helpful. Of course that's just my .02.

We rode 50 across Nevada a couple years ago after a trip to Yosemite. It was probably the most interesting way to cross Nevada and not ride the Interstate as I recall. It is truly a lonely road with few towns. It is mostly FLAT, and STRAIGHT with a few mountains breaking up the terrain from time to time. Be aware of storms as no place to hide or find shelter. Made it from Carson City to Delta just beating a thunderstorm. I suggest you do this route as it is one you will not forget. Have a great ride.
