Only 29 days until we leave on our annual bike trip. Four of us will be leaving Las Vegas Wed July 7 early (to beat the heat) and heading to Kingman, AZ to Seligman, AZ for breakfast then on to Kayenta, AZ for the night. Next day, off to see Monument Valley, Four Corners, and Mesa Verde National Park and stop for the night in Durango, CO. The third day will be traveling up US 550, known as one of the dangerous drives (lots of twisties) to Ridgeway, CO and then continue down the backside and over to Hanksville, UT. The fourth day will be riding through southern UT and ending up in Cedar City, UT for the night. Then the fifth day will be the ride home and back to reality. About 1300 +/- miles. Can't wait!! The saddle bags are already packed! LOL

When you're in Kayenta AZ be careful if you go to the grocery store. There's a doosy of a speed bump in the parking lot. It knocked off my husband's kickstand. Took him about an hour in the HOT sun to put it back on. Even had a local native woman telling him what he needed to do. He practiced A LOT of patience that day!
That's a very interesting little town. You never know what's going to go running through it - last year we saw a goat running through the lot of the grocery store and a few years ago when we went through we saw a group(?) of what we thought were wild horses, about 5 of them. We also saw a dead horse along the highway that had been hit by a car. So be careful.
US 550 is a beautiful road! Lots of beautiful scenery.
