Went or a little trip this weekend to ride the Silver Thread. Wanted to share some photos. Tented in Lake City Saturday night and woke up to 20 degrees... Was quite a cold morning. I waited until I thawed out a little before heading out. Got a smudge on the lens in the later pics.
Hey Steve, stopped in Villa Grove at the general store because of your book and they said to tell you hello! Your book has been a huge help to this newbie to CO. The falls were also something I would have passed had it not been for the book.
Lake City was very cool (literally and figuratively) with the wooden sidewalks, and all. The school's graduation party had just finished in the local bar and the 4 graduating students had left but the celebration was still going on...
Well, there isn't a lot in Villa Grove, but the historic general store there does make a nice stop while riding the gun barrel of U.S. 285 through the San Luis Valley!
You know, many times I passed by North Clear Creek Falls without stopping, then finally did! How about that. Just the roar is entrancing.
Your images told the Silver Thread tale very well.
It is one of the greats feeling while riding on such atmosphere. It is one of the most fantastic place were we can really enjoy the feel of nature and can also enjoy riding long drives.
