I did 89 from 395 to So Lake Tahoe this summer. It was a lot longer than I thought. Yes, it has scenery but no, it is not a quick way of getting from 50 over to 395. The fastest way is to go into So. Lake Tahoe, and cut over to the Kingsbury Grade into Minden. It will take off about 45 minutes unless there is traffic. There is a bypass in So Lake Tahoe (Pioneer Trail) that takes you behind the real traffic.

I was less impressed with the scenery on 89 and it took much more time than I thought. Just a suggestion.

To each his own, but I think 89 has some great scenery, and a much more enjoyable ride than fighting the traffic through the Tahoe area. Besides, on the bike I rarely go for the "fastest" way to get from point A to point B.

And for the OP, gas shouldn't be a problem, but it won't hurt to top up when you get much below half a tank or so. Gas will be expensive through the mountains.

If you have the time, I'd recomend 88 to 89, avoiding 50. Longer, but much more scenic, much less traffic. Gas shouldn't be a problem, just don't wait til you're on empty to look for gas. Top it up when you get much below half.

The route from Benton Hot springs to Beatty NV. looks to be about 164 miles.
I have not been on all those roads I can tell you that I would be real sure to get fuel in
BHS Ca. unless you know for sure that there is fuel to be had on the route you list. Some very vast and open roads across parts of Nevada cool to be there and see it can be very hot bring water make sure someone knows your route and do not change it if you cant tell that person. Have fun and enjoy your ride
