I've done Laconia and Myrtle Beach, but have never been to Americade.
I looked at the website this morning and I'm trying to figure it out.
Is everything rally-oriented centrally located, and you're paying to access the rally area?

It will be my first time. A day admission ticket gets you into the vendor area. There are also lectures and bike shows inside this area. You can also upgrade your ticket for events such as pig roasts, rodeos, and boat cruises on the lake. There are also organized rides. Lots of action takes lave in lake George village, which foes not require a ticket. Many gorgeous cruising roads up there.
Pat, what you buy ticket wise depends on how long your going for and what you want to do. The week long ticket will cover an event, like a boat tour with dinner and all of the contests, lectures and demos. The demos fill up by around 7:30 in the morning. The mini tours are extra.
I've been to about twenty of these so I stay in Rutland Vermont to avoid the long lines for gas or food in town. I also only buy a day pass for the expo and do my own tours. But the last couple of years have been a bit thin because of the economy so staying in town has been better if you can find a room.
Come Friday night a steady stream of bikes come rolling into town and it's a neat street scene. Much more upscale than Laconia. Warning: The NY state police will have a loud pipe check point on the south side of Canada Street on Friday night. At least they have for many years, so forewarned if you have loud ones.
I really like Americade because you can buy pretty much anything you want for your bike. It's set up with an outdoor expo on million dollar beach and another indoors at the convention center with free buses running between the two all day.
Laconia is really only black tee shirts, cheap chaps and vests and tattoos. While Sturgis has anything you want it's so spread out finding anything can be a problem.
Bring a small piece of plywood for your kick stand for parking in the field. Then leave the bike there for the night scene and walk because parking on Canada Street will be a bitch to find. Even more so with a couple of bikes. This may not apply early in the week.
I'll be there from Wed to Sun. and will spend all day Fri. in Lake George. Virginia plates, blue and black e-glide, solo seat, no trunk, look for it. It will be the one in the middle of 50,000 gold wings.
Is going from Middletoen, NY TO AMERICADE doable on a day trip?
If you meant Middletown, yes it is.
I do it from Rockland county in 1 day every year. I leave around 6am, get there around 930am, leave around 5pm and home for 830pm.
