Default Bikeweek in a car? any bikeweek info?

Well ive booked my flight tickets from the uk to orlando for bikeweek in 2015. Originally I was going to hire a HD from orlando and ride upto Daytona and get a hotel close to the beach/main street area but im on a bit of a budget and can get a car for 1/3 off the price of a bike plus thinking about suitcase etc.
So is it going to be ok driving around Daytona area while the bikeweek is on or will the roads be gridlock? also the hotels around Ormond area seem to be cheaper? im hoping to leave car in hotel car park and walk or taxi to main street area so can grab a beer or does the activities/stalls/entertainment stretch upto ormand beach area? how about parking around main street area?
Any info would be great cheers.

They used to close Main Street to cars and only motorcycles were allowed. They haven't done that in a while. The last several years cars have been able to cruise Main with the bikes. I personally liked it better with just bikes.

Will there be gridlock? Yes, in some places. Main and Destination Daytona in particular. But that is gridlock for everyone, car and bike.

You will be able to get to all the venues in a car and experience everything Bikeweek has to offer except having your knees in the breeze and the longing to be on a bike.

You can get very close to Main Street and all the actions in a car. This year my bike was in the shop so we went in the car.. Didn't miss much. The benefit of the car is you can buy a lot of **** you might not have while on the bike lol.

Or you stay around Sanford off I4 and rent a bike around there for a couple days to ride into daytona

Last I knew a full week Harley rental at Rossmeyers HD at Destination Daytona was $700 to $800 for the week. That was a couple years ago when a friend rented,

Other than getting onto Main St nearing the 2nd weekend of bike week, I never thought the traffic was too bad.

If you're up around Destination Daytona you will also have traffic backed up at the Ormond Strip (area of Iron Horse Saloon) going both ways on Rte 1 nearing the 2nd weekend with not only turning traffic, but the cops stop traffic to allow for pedestrian crossings at the Iron Horse. You can avoid this with a much more pleasant ride to Main St by taking Pine Tree Dr to Old Dixie Hwy and N.Beach St. Cross over the Granada bridge to beach side Daytona and then take Halifax down to Main St.

If you're heading to and from the Speedway for the races (and many vendors) there are better ways than the International Speedway Blvd and Rte 1. From DD just jump on 95 for one or two exits then take Williamson Blvd to Dunn to B.France Blvd.

There are many ways to avoid traffic between the areas. Here is a very useful Bike Week map with events listing. Have a great time!

That's brilliant cheers for that, got it all printed off. Im hoping to get just a days rental as only have 3 days there and one day on a bike would be enough and hopefully Daytona hd will allow a days rental., would of loved longer but leaving the kids/dogs back in the uk with my parents so limited on time.
Again cheers for your help
