Default Yaffee Stealth 3 license plate mounting

Had 1 painted to match my CVO and when attempted to install, its a no go.
I stated to painter I need the universal/CVO plate model, (he supplied the plate frame) The stock plate mount screws into the bikes bracket inside fender. This new one would have to screw from the inside the fender, thru the brackets nut, and then into the plate frame. However, the screw required for the plate will not pass thru the bikes bracket.
For you guys that installed this plate for your CVO, does it simple require a smaller screw, 10-32?? to pass thru the welded on factory bracket nut? My bikes bracket looks to be a 1/4-20 with the new plate using a 1/4-28 bolt. That comb does not work. I'm not going to drill out the bikes bracket to fit, but can modify the backing plate if need be, as last resort.

Thanks

you have to take a drillout and take the threads out of the bracket on the bike then you put the screws in from the back you might have to get longer screws that's how I did my last two bikes takes five minutes I would type everything up just to be on the safe side before you drill go slow only needs to open up a little bit just enough to remove the threads

Yes I've seen many say to drill out threads. Ive also seen many claim a simple bolt on install with no drilling required. Id rather go the no drill route in case I reinstall original plate mount. Course it would just mean using longer bolts and nuts then. Thanks

Just got off phone with Yaffe. Drill out is the process. I didnt get the instructions nor the hardware package ( appearantly there's a foam block in the package that I'll need to source) with mine, thus the questions. Had to order a new light too. Mine was damaged by painter. Yaffee replacing it no problem. Great service!

Didn't call him as its just one of those things that happen, so he's not aware of it. Just faster to take care of it myself.

Drill it...And be done..Unless your painter got paint in them small tapped out holes..Those have to be spotless
Don't forget about the wiring..Test it first before finishing it up..50,50 Shot
Your gonna need the instructions.I would research for a set
