Default lil bit of heat on the inner thigh

It's not a deal breaker, but I do notice a bit of heat on the inner right thigh. It doesn't help that I'm a man who 'enjoys the occasional second helping'.

Do the black exhaust protectors mitigate the heat at all?

Do you have stock or aftermarket headers?

I'm still getting to know the bike. I don't know if I should be embarrassed to say this, but it's true. I don't know.

Here's a pic of the bike:

I was thinking this kit was made for my setup:

Thank you for reaching out to help. I'm new to the bike....and Harleys. I'm here to learn though.

Nice bike and congrats on it. That looks aftermarket while the heat shields you posted are stock. What year is it and did you buy it new or used? Are there any logos on the exhaust?

I'll do some investigating tonight and see what I can find.

Bought it used...it's a '17.

Well...I can say based on the picture and the routing of the rear cylinder head pipe that it's aftermarket. Bottom line is that with aftermarket stuff there most likely isn't a catalytic converter in the head pipe. That is usually what creates the most heat on the leg. You can look into mid frame heat deflectors (help a tiny bit but not a lot), but black heat shields aren't going to make a difference and without knowing the brand of the exhaust, you won't know what to buy anyways. The heat is usually the nature of the beast when owning a touring bike.

If you think your bike is hot, take a ride on the following [my son's V-rod] and when you return you will be thanking your lucky stars how "cool" you bike is!
