Congratulations on your first post to HDF,
to the Forum.
1. Hopefully, you have a factory service manual for your bike, if not get one as you will be ahead of the game for any repairs.
2. Go here to see how to adjust correctly and what you may have missed when adjusting: http://sportsterpedia.com/doku.php/t...vo:priclutch01
3. Sounds like you did not follow the procedure in the service manual, revisit the clutch adjustment.
4. The bearings in your ramp may not be seated correctly.
5. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get the adjustment correct if you have not done it before.
hello out there again my forum brothers and sisters,I recently was scooting down shermanway on my bike and went to pull the clutch in and the lever hit my bar.got the bike home and took off the primary cover and discovered mt clutch bearing was ate all to **** nothing left but the housing ordered the replacement bearing for the ajusterskrew and put the bearing around the ajuster skrew and put it back in the clutch plate put it back in the housing and put the snap ring back in snap ring popped off after I pulled the clutch in and had to do it over like three times once I didi it I guess I put the bearing to far back and it was hard o turn and the the snap ring popped off again so here I am opening the primary case again is there any curtain way that clutch bearing s suppose to go into the clutch plate because I put it all back together and that snap ring pops off again and no the snap ring is not bent please any body please break down this procedure to me because I'm stuck with out my bike.thank you for your time brothers and sisters I know its valuable
the xlforum is the place to be, sportster specific.
i assume you are talking about the throw out bearing. which bearing, radial as in original or angular contact as a better replacement? these must be install correctly as the are one way. however, it should not affect the spacing for the retainer ring. i would examine the groove, it must be sharply square, if rounded a tiny bit, probably will pop out when loaded.
