hard start cold
Had a local shop install new Feuling lifters and adjustable pushrods in my 2016 CVO RG. Now very hard to start cold, acts like mixture way too rich. When I finally get it fired lots of black smoke and very rough. No problems before. After it's warmed up runs normal. 57K miles. The original lifters didn't show any problems. No codes. No indication of valves not closing completely. Could the valves be adjusted too tight?
TIA

Could be a few things...pushrods in the wrong place, pushrods not adjusted correctly, pushrods adjusted without the cylinder being adjusted on the base circle of the cam and at TDC compression stroke. Either way you should get it back to the shop that did the work, they messed up something.
As already mentioned I think something was adjusted wrong. I'm curious though what did you have done other than just the lifters and pushrods? Like it seems weird to me that you'd just replace that part and that part only, unless of course this is preventative maintenance on the CVO 110 which is known for absolutely destroying tappets.
No problems.
I decided to have the lifters changed because of all the horror stories regarding the failures. The lifters that were removed looked "as new".
The only failure that I have experienced with this bike, I bought new, was the water pump and a couple of batteries..
TIA for your help!
