Default '80 FLT electrical issue

Hey fellas. I've been rebuilding my dads bike and have it all back together and went to start it up and I have no spark. The instrument panel (not stock) isn't working either but I'm not sure if that's related because all other electrical seems to be working.

I had to put in a new voltage regulator because a short in the wire fried the old one and I also replaced a bad stator. I tested the coil and it has good voltage coming out of the secondary side. I'm at a loss as to why I have no spark or no instrument panel.

what ignition would be the first place to start - if your not sure post a picture of what is in the nose cone and if it has a box, originally they were hard wired into the elect system no plug on the box if any

what do you have

Would this be the part you are talking about? It's all one piece with no connectors off of it
I just got home to find this grim sight. That's the wire that comes off the regulator to the breaker. It's obviously toasted along with who knows what else. I clearly have a deeper problem here...
Been on the bike for only a week...

the ignition is an original hard wired unit cant believe one is still installed

the voltage regulator hot wire shorted so a new system should be installed - reg and stator with the drum - convert it to the 32 amp evo unit and you will be good for a long time

ultima ignition is a good one but the coil that comes in the kit form is junk have a bucket of new uninstalled - sure someone will say they have one lasted 50,000 miles in a bike but they never lasted when we installed them
