Well, after posting in the Ignition section and thus far, the only response has been that coils are as fickle as women, I decided to try a frame-specific request:
Since acquiring my '03 Dyna FXDWG in '08 I have gone through 3 coils, all within the last 4 years. Additionally, I have gone through 2 voltage regulators. The stator still appears healthy and the current battery remains fully charged (replaced 3 years ago). I have less than 30k miles on the girl so I am at a loss as to a root cause.
Coils are heralded as being near bullet-proof as are VRs. Any thoughts as to a possible explanation?
I'm not real good with electrical, but it seems to me the stator/rotor would be at the heart of the problem. Interesting your ignition and lights are surviving, though. I dunno...
