Keihin rebuild kit - who makes a good one?
I have the Keihin carb and am ready for a rebuild. I see that CC has a kit, harley has the kit as p/n 27006-76A, JPCycles has 2 kits - one is suposedly upgraded with viton material and the pic looks like it is the CC kit. And I am sure there are other kits too. Does anybody have a recommendation? Also Andrews sells a high flow accelerator pump for the carb, is it worth getting?
if it's any thing like the keihin carb i had on my bike i would throw it away and get another carb like a CV, Bendix or a S&S i put a donated Bendix on my shovel man what a difference no more keihin cough and runs a lot stronger, heres a site bunch of good folks there they can help you with any shovelhead problem or question http://www.shovelhead.usa go to the forum
You can get a R&R kit for the carb through Jiheh Cycles and yes the HI-flo kit is worth the money . These can be a good carb if set up correctly . Theres a couple articles that give you step by step procedures for the rebuild do a google search if you don't find anything email me and I'll help you through it . This what we did back in the old school days before the CV or S&S shortys brainwashed everybody into spending $400 .
Thanks for the info. I've ordered the Andrews accelerator kit...and will be ordering a carb rebuild kit today. All the info on rebuilds that I found on the internet seems to be about the CV type. Do you have any links for the Keihin butterfly type rebuilds?
Give me a few days to dig around , I know have some of the old articles stashed somewhere . It,s pretty straight forward but there are a couple " tricks " you need to do to take the stupid outa the way runs . I'll post as soon as I find the stuff , good luck .......
