Default Dyna ignition?

I just got the bike from my brother. He just had the ignition system replaced, with a dyna s. Its dual plug heads. It burned up in less than 3 months and never ran right since he had the work done. It needs dual plug single fire coils and I think it has dual fire coils yet I can't find the part # to verify my suspicions. It has 2 dyna 5ohm 1106-1 coils. I can't find 1106-1 coils listed to see if they're single or dual fire. They do not have the terminals marked +/- either. Which I understand to be a dual fire coil.
Any help?
Thanks

I run that same setup going on 12 years now no problems , post up if you keep having problems . Coils can dual or single fire either way what matter is what Ohm rating they are for for which ignition , single or dual and the "S" or 2000 setup . Usually with the smaller tower mount coils they are color coded black being the 5ohm and brown or green being 3ohm

Default Dyna S single fire ign and a Crane tach adaptor

Twizted or anyone Did anyone ever have this set up and have the Crane unit short internally and shut the bike down while traveling ? I'd pull over and the bike would start and run ok After I disconnected the tach adaptor there hasn't been a problem since ? Maybe the tach was shorting internally ? Crane/S&S claims they never heard of such a thing Oh well the tach is history

A short in the tach system is direct ground and it will shut off if not burn out the Dyna or the Crane either one . These thing run off very small signals so the tach going if it's connected into the circuit would kill it .

The dyna S I have is for single fire and single fire coils only I disconnected the tach wires to check if that was the prob. Tomorrow I'll have all new and I'll go from there. I'll keep yall informed.

A friend of mino just got an 89 FLT
While riding the bike POPs or backfires... feels like the current is cutting off.
Felt like my FXRT before it "died" . My problem was the wire going from the ignition to the coil just got loose. Fixed that and I was back in busines.
Now... he said his tach was not working. I noticed a pink wire hanging loose close to the coil. Usually pink wire=tach. Maybe the previous owner disconnected it because he was having issues.
Weeill take the tank off soon and check the connections at the coil.
IF the tacho got disconnected because having issues and the bike is not running smooth... maybe the ignition is about to get toasted?

I have seen this many times, Yes the crane ignitions do fail under load, usually drops 1 cylinder but sometimes cuts out all together. Only to be fine on re start.

I have 3 of them right now stored in a box with the same problem.. Put one of those in a bike, it will start and run but give you headaches down the road with cut outs, dropped cylinders, ect...
