So I just got my bike from from my Indy. He said he could not properly adjust the clutch do to the "unique set up" it's a 78 lowrider frame, shovel, and a 5 speed in a 4 speed box. He said the cable routing is incorrect for that tranny. Anyone run into this before and what did you do if anything? He suggested I get the proper tranny. I really don't want to do that, the old man rode it like that for MANY years.

Is it possible to fab a mounting bracket to come down the right side instead of the left? Does that even make sense?

what i guess you have is a lever on the right side exiting the end cover -- the early FXRs had that trans and the clutch cable route needs to be changed and or making a stay for the original cable

you need some harley product info experence to get the fix typing it out is not going to work if you have no idea how harley did the cables over the years

pm me your e mail as i cant post pictures any more to the site i have a 4 5 conversion in my shop BUT its a late one that is more user frendly i can send pictures of it - jz

Find a shovel FXR clutch cable 80 to 82 it should work and I'm sure there's a bracket bolted somehow under the oil bag to hold it . a few pictures of your setup and somebody in here can steer you right .

Yeah, the bracket is between the tanks and oil bucket. Seems like if I could just flip it to the right side it might help. I am embarrassed to say I can't figure out how to post pics for the life of me. Thanks. I'll work on the pics.
