Dies when open throttle?

Dies when open throttle?
So i have a 78 shovelhead. It runs great, strong all that stuff but when it is at idle and i quickly twist the throttle wide open it just dies...... Is that a fuel delivery thing or a timing thing or what?? If i roll into it smooth it has no problems....

dunno anything about harley's but with 2 stroke bikes and quads thats usually a carb jetting issue. if it ran fine before and you havent done anything to the motor your main jset might just be clogged.

Probably it's time for a new accel pump diaphragm and cleaning out the float bowl making sure all the pin hole ports feeding the pump are flowing freely . Real fine rust tend to block them over time . I'd also check for intake leaks around the manifold connections .

Twizted is right. not familiar with kehein, but have found the accel. pump check disc in a bendix hung up once. maybe trash in the check ball/disc. what ever it has. make sure the pump is moving and not hung up. something on the accelerator pump system is goofy

how you check the acc pump is remove the bowl fill the bowl with anything really we use mineral spirits, put the pin inthe pump tube and pump it up and down, and see if you get a solid stream that shoots 6 / 7 inches straight ahead - not a fan to one side or dribble
