Shovelhead shocks
Can anyone recommend some decent rear shocks for my 84 FL? Hate to go to air shocks.
Mostly this is just a day tripper anymore but it does''t take the bumps well.
Have tried several different no name ones from mid west, custom chrome but don't seem to last or have a good ride.

I've had good luck with the 11" Progressive Suspension shocks on my FXB.
I want to try Ohlins from Motorcycle Metal on my bagger soon, if I like them as much as I expect to, I may go all out and get a (full length) set for the shovel too.

the reason harley went to air is it works -- the china shocks are garbage the day before you buy them / and they degrade from that point foward < progressive shocks are 3 / 4 hundred bucks and ride almost as hard as the china crap - jz
The generic one's from Midwest are junk in 4 months or less BUT they have a billet house brand now that works pretty well on the shovels and they look decent too for $140 . They don't have the full covers like the old FL style is all . Put them on a half dozen shovels the last few years and everyone likes them so far .
I get them from Jireh which uses Midwest's catalog .
