We sell both Power Vision and FP3 and are very familiar with both products. While both are flash tuners there are significant difference between each product, their abilities, and what you can expect from each of them. The FP3 is a flash tuner in its most basic form, it allows users to flash a pre-developed calibration from V&H to the ECM with their smartphone or tablet via bluetooth. It gives you tuning access to the main tuning tables and there is an automated auto tuning application that populates tune corrections that can be applied back to your map as well. You can view various data channels and all tuning is done thru your mobile device or tablet. Unfortunately there is no tuning software platform for FP3, your device app is the software and all tuning is done as such. You cannot log ECM data with a FP3 nor can you share, analyze or compare maps; all support requires users to work directly with V&H. While FP3 offers a wide range of tuning tables the issue is that maps have not developed maps for cams, big bore and other more extensive applications, and while the tables are available for tuning there are many parameters that need to be setup, adjusted, or altered. They are giving you the tools to do so, however in many cases the end users do not know how to set things like charge dilution tables, normalize the MAP tables, or other more complex parameters. We also do not prefer using a phone or tablet for tuning, especially when there is no tuning software or logging ability to do the tuning with. We feel at this time FP3 is a good fit for stage 1 applications and if it has the toolset and support you are looking for it is a good choice.

Most know that we are a technical partner with Dynojet. We have been involved extensively with Power Vision development from day one and its no secret this is our tuner of choice, this tuner works really, really well and fits our business model perfectly. It has powerful windows based tuning software an logging software, the PV device allows you to display & log data as well as make adjustments directly to your tune, it has two versions of auto tune; Basic which is included with PV (uses the factory O2 sensors) and the optional Pro kit (uses Wideband sensors), Power Vision has the ability to be used on multiple bikes with a $199 tune license. However most importantly we have the largest database of maps on the planet with over 1000 maps available. We offer industry leading tuning support to our customers; the ability to log data & email maps gives us the ability to not only tune bikes remotely and accurately, it also helps us diagnose issues. With your PV purchase from Fuel Moto we include a free handlebar mount and quick release/visor kit, and we also double the warranty on the unit. Fuel Moto has supported thousands of Power Vision customers since the PV was released and we will do so to the highest level, also keep an eye open for some awesome Power Vision enhancements & add ons that are going to land in the next several months that are really going to be a game changer.

In the end the best advice we can offer is to use the tuning product the person doing the tuning is most comfortable tuning with, that has the resources your need for your setup now as well as for any mods you are planning, that you can can get the best support on, and most importantly have a willingness to learn.

I've experienced the same thing with V&H...great support. I never had a problem but just wanted to ask questions for my own benefit and they are always right there. While auto tuning, just leave your phone in you pocket while it's connected via Bluetooth and you can look at it anytime you want to check progress (best to stop of course). Even without the 100 bucks or so savings, I'd do the FP3 again. The only thing I was hoping it would have is speedometer calibration and it looks as though that's coming. IF I were doing more radical mods, I might rethink the PV but for stage 1, the FP3 is perfect.

It appears Fuel Moto provides top notch support for the PV and V&H does the same for the FP3.

I spend more time riding and working on my bike on weekends than weekdays. Fuel Moto is only open 9-5cst M-F. Thats when I'm at work. I don't know for sure what Vance & Hines customer support hours are. But I used the customer support email button on the FP3 app around 9:00pm Saturday night and sent a question asking what map they recommend for my set up. I didn't expect a reply until Monday. But to my surprise I received a reply back Saturday night around 10 minutes after sending the request (9:10pm). From that I'm thinking V&H may have 24/7 support. Even if not 24/7 it looks like they are there late 7 days a week to give support if and when I need it.

If you need off-hours support you can always go to dynojet directly.

It all depends on the level of support you require. I agree V&H has really good support for basic tuning and is especially good for questions on how the product functions, great company for sure. The difference would come to play when you get into more complex tuning and diagnostics, from a product standpoint with Power Vision we have the ability to capture and analyze info from the ECM's databus to see not just what the ECM is delivering but the changes it has made historically, this is paramount for the tuning process as well as diagnosing issues within both the bike and the tune itself. Power Vision gives not only Fuel Moto, but the end user the advantage of a powerful software tuning suite. The biggest advantage with our technical support is that we have many years of experience tuning these bikes hands on including cams, big bore, and other extensive modifications. You get support from the guys who know how these bikes work because we build and tune them day in, day out and we are more than happy to assist

I have been following this thread and finally made a damn decision, just got off the phone with Jamie and ordered up the PV2. Putting it on my new 15 and will probably end up buying the second license to upgrade my 11 Road king from power commander to the PV as well. V&H is a great company, I am running their products on several bikes but in my opinion FM provides world class customer service and that's why I keep going back. Can't wait to play with my new toy!

After following this thread myself, I will be following up with Jamie as well.
Just need some time on the bike to get over the first 500 miles to start playing.

i bought the pv2 from fuelmoto, it came pre programmed ready to go. Instructions say to make sure it's updated well it cam updated from them. Plugged it in yesterday followed the instruction loaded saved my stock tune loaded the new tune and it was ready to go. The versatility seams to be there for even when you do decide to do more. Autotune haven't tried that yet only took the bike around the block. It may need to be done but he said their tune is 95 percent correct which is good to start. Either way if your going ***** out in the end you will still need a good dyno tuner to fine tune. Support and an extra year warranty with the product is what helped finalize my choice.

Default Thanks

Thanks Jamie for your input to this thread. I' m back to PV I think and will order in next few weeks. The future game changing enhancements you hint of are comming for current PV model or do we need to wait for the announcement. I'm asking if other options are comming for PV will they apply to current model or is there a totally new thing comming? Like remote tune from IPhone !?
Thanks
Hap

While riding home from work today, stream music from my phone via Bluetooth I thought of a drawback to the FP3 using Bluetooth. The phone can't connect to more than one Bluetooth device at a time. So even though I can run auto Tune without the phone connected, I wont be able to watch the status of the cells that are tuned or monitor the gauges showing system status and have the Infotainment system connected for calls, text, or streaming music at the same time. Guess if I decide I want to monitor something with the FP3 I'll have to connect one device to my phone and the other to my wife's phone. I don't plan on needing to do that very often, but wanted to make others aware of that drawback.
