I've always loved the looks, ride & handling of a fat 16" front tire. So, I started with this-
and a big pile of boxes full of parts.
Scored the FLST forks & wheel, FXSTC trees, FXDWG headlight & FXDF shocks on ebay for pretty short $. That said, I did splurge a bit with the Progressive Monotube cartridges & Klock Werks fender.
Finally got everything done & together a couple weeks after a delay or 2 & a couple mid-stream changes.
I started out envisioning a stripped/bobbed, pissed off '70's FLH kinda vibe, but the financial reality of doing it "right" (FXDWG tank, dash, modding/fitting a dresser & then paint...) reared its head, so I decided to go a more "bruiser cruiser"/Super Glide on steroids thing, with a nice sprinkling of '60's/'70's stank.
Rides a little firmer than before, but less harsh & much smoother & more controlled. Love the way the 16" just rolls on over & leans into a turn. Always felt like I was fighting the 19" & the 16" feels much more planted. In fact, as I learn & gain more experience with this set up, I find myself cranking 'er over more & slowly shrinking my chicken strips.
The bike looks like it comes from the factory. Well proportioned. Clean and comfortable. It looks like the kind of bike you can take long rides on with ease. Nice job!!
Thank you, especially the "factory" comment as I'm just a little OCD about keeping things clean & san-o & one of my goals was to keep her so clean she could "pass" (at least to those that don't know H-Ds too well).
Yes, she is all day comfortable. 'Boards are the best thing I've ever done to 'er & with a good seat & bars that put my hands just a shade below shoulder level, hand cramps, shoulder & lower back pain have disappeared. The sissybar is from Khrome Werks. Don't remember the height, but it was the only one in that style that fit '02-'05 Dynas. Had the pad recovered by C&C to match the seat.
Just realized I forgot, but I owe a big debt to Surfor Chop, AFMM3, Sonnydaze, Fskitch, Ackman1968, Blueangel73 & all the guys in the FL-Dyna interest group who did all the legwork on this well before I thought about it & who were more than happy to share their experience.

Awesome Thanks, I was checking those but wasn't sure how tall it would be, I think that's 13". Thanks again.
If you get their pad to fit the bar, it's effectively impossible keep it from rattling. A narrow strip of 3M double-sided foam tape in each mounting channel on the backing plate & problem solved.
Gonna go with a ham can a/c once I get the ol' slush fund replenished a bit. If I could find a smooth battery cover, I'd have louvers punched. Older Shovelhead battery covers can be made to work, but not easily & not with my limited skills.
