Found out my clear coat reacts to gasoline (a solvent) in a really shitty way. Doesn't seem to affect the actual paint though. So I just need to touch up some spots on my tank now. Oh well.

Was feeling mopey so I rode around in the rain today.

Did a couple of autotune runs with the new PV. Engine temp dropped about 10° after the first one, didn't get a chance for a check ride after the second. Definitely runs smoother and stronger after the first anyway.

I took off my wheels today to get new tires installed. The dealer wanted $80.00 a tire. I wanted to do the work myself because it feels good to take care of the bike personally, plus I get to make sure everything it cleaned, torqued, lubed, and put back together properly.

I may not be the best mechanic, but I have patience and the service manual. plus I get satisfaction and feel one with my bike.

Real names Lily, Lilith. I think it all goes together.

Plus Dirt Nap just sounds cool, to me. And it looks good on a gas tank
Ride on!!

Default Made new seat fit!

I've been wanting a "king/queen" style seat for my '07 1200C. Hard to locate due to the ECM being under the seat (limits options for any aftermarket seat). Plus, seats are so dang much money!

I found a seat I liked the look of at a swap meet for less than $100. Since I already have a tiny Battery Tender lithium ion battery, I planned to move ECM to battery compartment. It came with screws underneath in front and rear, so I figured I could fab brackets (I use that word loosely - total noob, and just winged it as I went along).

Problem I found when I got it home: with 4.5 Gallon tank it was too long.

Moved, battery, made rear bracket to lock that in, and started trimming the nose with dremel. Still need to do some finishing touches, but overall I'm happy with it.

Now i just need to find a cheap sissy bar!

Here's some before/progress/after pics:

I have observed that the alignment of real wheel from dealership tends to be poor. Also belt tension is generally too loose. Either way it's an expensive way to screw up. I can screw things up way cheaper!

But seriously, doing the work is part of the art of motorcycles, the beauty, and savoring it continues when you KNOW at 100 mph that every fastener, every adjustment, is dead-on. It's a zen thing...be the bike...

Lilith - that's a good name. She represents the old Pagan religion of female mysteries and sex...

I myself kinna like Sapho, for similar reasons, but what usually come out is "bitch!" - especially with kicker-only bikes that don't cooperate!

Dead Rubber Boy, that was a lot of work but it looks like it is paying off. Good luck finding the sissy bar.

Thanks! Well worth it to make it truly "mine".
