Since we're on the old photo kick here is one of my family favorites. 3rd great grandmother, on my Dad's side, seated on right with 3 of her siblings. Notice the Civil War medals on her brothers. Pic taken about 1890
My parents never shared much about our family history as we grew up. It's only been in the last 15 years they really shared with us. A lot has been lost because it wasn't passed down. A couple of possible tall tales were shared though.
Cool pics guys.... Mick... I guess the photographers back then didn't know to yell "say cheese"!!
Based on the way they are dressed I've often wondered if they were at a funeral. I found this photo online by chance. I googled the name of one of the brothers and a link came up to a collection of old west photos at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX (my home town).
I looked at pic and was stunned. I called the library and they sent me the original file on a disc.
Once ya start on this genealogy stuff you will be amazed what ya stumble across.
