So, I have never seen either version in person. I do know I always liked the original non-leather version on the old FXDXT. I'm ready to buy and am leaning toward the originals.
For those of you who have seen or owned both, what's your opinion? Is the leather THAT much nicer looking? Do the originals lose their luster or color over time? If you own the originals are you thinking of going leather?
I have the originals, haven't seen the leather in person but a buddy of mine has and said they are super nice.
Personal preference, I prefer the look of the originals to leather so I can't justify spending extra for the leather ones.
Antonio, I have the leather version. Bought them a few months after they came out. My personal reason for getting the leather was I think they look much better than the cordura and I didn`t want to say " I should have gotten the leather".

They do look good!
Question: What turn signal relocation kit did you use?
I also have the leather ones - and they are super nice. The leather is excellent quality.
They are also pretty damn near waterproof - I rode 350 miles in pouring rain last week and all my gear was still dry inside. i know they aren't sold as waterproof and i wouldn't claim they were.......but my **** didn't get wet....
I also bought the leather as i didn't want to say " I wish I'd bought the leather ones" a year down the line.
I bought the traditional ones. I thought of the leather, went back and forth a couple times to make sure that I wouldn't say "I shoulda". In the end I just decided I liked the looks of the original cordura with the leather tops more (and I've never second guessed myself, which if you know me is not the norm). they are not nearly as water resistant as it seems the all leather ones are. I don't generally ride in the rain so no biggie but I did at one point ride through a pretty good downpour for about 20 minutes and stuff inside was certainly damp. When I travel I generally put my clothes in plastic just in case.
As for color they look as good today as they did slightly over a year ago. I spray them with the protectant that Garry sends with the bags every now and again. When I wash them I simply spray them down, not sure if the leather ones are that easy to clean or not.

Either one is great. Just matter of preference. OG get sun bleached if not sprayed with protectant, but leather with crack if not cared for either. I went with OG because I like the look
Love the leather. While not waterproof, I expect they are more resistant then cordura. I applied treatment I got from Fox Creek Leather for the first time last week while they were off the bike and they are still like new.
My opinion is either choice is a win for you and your bike. The FXDXT bags are easily the best looking bags available for a dyna. When I was deciding which version to get, I looked at pics here on the forum and loaded them in separate windows. Then I went back and forth between the windows and made my decision. I chose the leather version for 2 reasons. First, the leather is able to be cleaned very easily by spraying on some Lexol leather conditioner. Second, I think the leather version simply looks better than the cordura. Well worth the extra money.
