Hey Guys,
I'm looking into installing footboards on my 2009 Dyna Low Rider. It looks like the two choices are the Harley footboard kit, #50500247, or the Wyatt Gatling kit, #27-0920. Having trouble deciding which one to go with. It looks like the Harley kit is a little lower and farther forward but hard to tell from the pictures. Has anyone installed either of these kits or know different riders who have these kits on their bikes? Pros and cons of the two kits?
I just added the HD set and I love them. The parts guy told me that some aftermarket exhaust systems may not work with them, even if they are staggered like stock. I only have slip-on's, so I had no issue with the install.
You are correct in that the HD footboards are about 2 inches lower and an inch or two further forward than the Gatling boards. The big difference is the Gatling setup has the rear mount routed over the top of the front header, in the same manner as the stock peg mount. The HD rear mount goes under the header causing clearance issue with some aftermarket pipes, especially the 2 into 1 systems. Some after market manufacturers addressed the issue when the Switchback came out as i comes stock with the footboards, but you would have to have their Switchback versions of the pipes to have them fit properly. With the Gatling boards the pipes just have to be able to be mounted with the stock pegs and they will work.
Additional note, with the HD boards I would suggest the board edging that prevents your foot from touching the header while riding. Melted soles suck for the shoes and for the pipes.

Being 6'1" I like them lower and forward. It eases the pain in my bad hip.
Thanks for the replies. Good point about the burning shoes Jay. I hadn't thought of that and thanks for the picture. Jay, if you don't mind telling me, how tall are you and what is your inseam. Do you feel crowded at all with the height of the boards?
I'm 5'9" with a 31" inseam. It is comfortable, but had to replace the intake because my knee was bumping it and if my legs were a couple of inches longer I would probably feel a bit confined.
