I went with the leather covered hard detachable HD bags. They're not bad. I need to install the universal locks to get them to where I want them, but they are a sight better than the throwovers I had on it.

I am more of a minimalist. I have a fox creek small tool bag on my bars to hold my smokes, cell phone and shades and a fox creek large round tool bag mounted to my sissy bar that is just big enough to hold my rain suit and gloves. If I need to carry more for a trip I stuff an old army duffle bag with my clothes and strap it to my sissy bar for a back rest. I don't really need anything else. If I still worked and wanted to drag around work material or a laptop I would use a backpack.
