Maybe try a F6B? I hated mine. But it was problem free, just boring as hell and crappiest paint I ever saw on a bike. You can still get a 13 new in the box, such a big seller it was.
Yes, I kind of liked the idea of the F6B when it came out, wife and I looked at them a while, terrific discounts too.
But I have to agree, wow, those painted panels were a disgrace, man just sitting in the showrooms, I was amazed at all the marks and scratches.
Salesperson kind of shrugged and admitted how easy they mark and show scratches.
I wont knock the bike though, to me, a bike is a personal decision, we all buy for different reasons, fit, finish and quality hardware is most important to me and feel I got that in spades with my RK.
2 years old this August, never been to the dealer for warranty work yet, bringing it in for the first time this SAT to get some minor things checked and replaced.
Front spark plug wire chaffed and I want them to check the front wheel bearings and air shocks, I lose about a lb or 2 a week. Not a big deal but might as well have it checked while I have the warranty. SO the only thing I know for sure is I want the front plug wire changed, 2 years, almost 13,000 miles
( i posted on this in another thread)
To the original OP - I understand and sorry you are having these sort of difficulties.
Like you, I rode Wings from 1982 until 2004 - when I purchased my first Harley. I am still a lifetime GWRRA member (old school member). I have to agree, the Wing is a great bike and served my needs.
I was in the market for anew Wing when we discovered the frames were cracking - Honda did not believe such was happening - so, I moved to a Haley.
Since then, I have had 3 of them and now have the 2014 Ultra Limited.
I have taking advantage of the recalls - however, they wee done as recalls - and not because something happened. To date, I have not had any issues. Bike has over 25,000 miles on it and I recently changed tires around 20,000 or so. I believe I could have gone further but was planning a log trip.
My Harley is stock and I believe the Wing will outperform it. I also agree it runs smoother at idle. However, what has drawn me to the Harley s... better gas milage, runs perfect down the road )you have to agree that beyond idle, all is OK, tons of miles er set of tires - and I actually like the way the bike looks (does not have that plastic look). Plus, the 6th speed, info system and a few other things have grabbed my attention.
The last is probably the most important - my wife loves it and says the clothes are much nicer.
All said, I do hope you get your fixed and have trouble free miles down the road.
I don't have a G/W but I do have a VTX 1800 T with 10,000 trouble free miles its ok but rides like 2 horse wagon compared to my 2016 SGS the H/D is a more refined bike and I love it , now the VTX is a solo ride just for horsing around
Remember no one gets a Honda tattoo. Ive been riding HD since i sat on the old mans. Its not the look cool. Or i own a Harley, its u know u have a lil *** kickn under u. Ive seen a few others try to look like a Harley. U cant. But ive had two issues with my 16. The TBW. And the Master Cylinder. No biggy the deal fixed them the same day.
So if u dont like it sell it and buy a Singer.
After 7 great previous HDs I somehow won the lottery with my 14 Limited.
It was a complete piece of crap, so I understand not wanting to deal with a problem child... I did trade it and picked up a 17 though. So far so good. Fingers muthfugging crossed.
I've owned five Gold Wings and six Harley's and one Norton
Honda makes one hell of a motorcycle that being said remember when you were a young kid and broke YOUR bike and had to ride your sister's bike that's what i always feel like when i'm riding a HONDA
