Sweet bike. Those white parts are screaming for flames something along the lines of the new Street Glide graphics.

Congrats!

Thanks. Emerald Coast HD had them on ebay. Had a few. Emailed and talked to the internet sales guy a bunch of times after the listing expired. Emerald is apparenlty owned by the same people as New Orleans HD, where the NOPD leased these bikes 2 years ago and traded them back in.

Got "Slim" to send me pics and stats for a single bike. They wanted 12.5 for the bike, and shipping from FL to CT would be $500. After a bunch of dealing with him, I told him, 12 shipped and we can have a deal that day. While he had to "run it by the sales manager," a few hours later he said yes. $800 more the the state of CT.

I am loving the color more each time I look at it. I am amazed how damage-free this bike is for an actual service bike. Some small but deep nicks on the rear of both saddlebags, apparenlty from some equiptment they took off, but I'm putting an American flag sticker over it on one side. Still have to find one for the other side. There is no damage at all to the crash bars. Not a scratch. I don't think this bike has ever been down.

This thing was used, for sure, rain or shine. It shows on some parts, like hose clamps, you can't see. But at least no salt in NOLA. Its clearly been well maintained, just used as a work bike for 2 years.

Rushmore bike, cop seat I want, speedo on the bars, tach on the tank, two-tone paint (with gold stripes) for 12k. I'm very happy with my purchase. With the police seat, boards out 1" and forward 1", EZ Brake and EZ shifter, I have as much legroom as my Dyna with forwards.

Still getting used to how different it feels, but I'm sure I'll be in my comfort zone soon enough.

Ride report:

Finally got to spend some real time on the FLHP. With the cop seat, Kury board relocaters out and forward 1", and EZ Brake/Shift parts, more leg room then I could imagine. 14" apes are going to happen - that's where I want to be to be comfortable.

In my 60 mile ride, mostly back roads, I started to get acquainted with her. I'm in love. While different, and in need of its stage 1, this bike has impressed me all around.

While I'd guess my Dyna was better for "canyon carving," in the real world, the way I ride, this handles better on sweepers and nearly every other place I ride. Love having bags, that's for sure. She is rock steady at all speeds, although I've only gotten it up to 75 or so briefly. I'll see how the buffeting is when I give the windshield a try. I don't like them, but will use one on long highway trips.

Again, brakes are great.

Getting used to being "on" not "in" especially with the police seat. It will work for me, better when I get my apes.

Lastly, and I edited my first post. This was the first time I paid any real attention to the odometer, as I learned the functions it can do. What do you know, the bike was sold to me as having 7,1XX miles on it. Nay nay - it was set to kilometers - the bike has like 4,400 miles on it, actually. I'm calling that a win. Surprised the dealer made such a mistake, but I wonder if i would have gotten my price at 4,400 miles, not 7,100 miles. I got an even better deal than I thought due to this error. Yay for me.

Stopped at Dunks on the way home:

Loving the color. Changes with the sunlight. Not bad for a service bike.

Default 1,000 mile update

So, since getting my FLHP on July, 21, 2016, I have put 1,000 miles on her. I know it’s not much for a bit over 2 months, but life gets in the way . . .

Right away, before I even got the bike, I had the Kury footboard relocation brackets (out 1” and forward 1”), as well as extended shifters and an EZBrake pedal. With the police seat, I found it great legroom for being 6’3”. I did not like the bars. I lived with it for most of the time, but my back paid the price the next day. Well, the Khromeworks 14” apes cured that just fine. I love the way this bike fits me now.

A few weeks ago, I took the Ride Like a Pro out of New Jersey. I figured it would be good from someone staring out on a touring bike – I had only about 5K miles on my Dyna before getting the FLHP. The class was really good, but not as groundbreaking as I had hoped. Nothing was so new to me, maybe except for the “bump” left before your turn right. But that class really is about practice – if you don’t it’s a waste of money. Side note: long day, as I left my house at 5:30 am, rode 100 miles to the class, did the class for 5 hours, and then road home 100 miles.

I’m not crazy about the suspension (I know, I’m the only one, crazy, huh?) I’ve played with the psi in the suspension, and its fine most of the time, but on any really crappy roads, I swear my stock Dyna was better. I will do the rears next spring, fronts when I can.

I’m stock with an FP3 – I really like it. I did do my own DIY breather bypass, and then some autotuning. Runs great – for now. The 103 HO really pulls nice. Had to change the throttle sensitivity on the FP3, that helped a lot with starts – something “plus.”

Bike is WAY too quiet. I’m not looking to set off car alarms, but I need a bit more. Kind of have my eye on the Crusher Marksman – there are so many options, many much cheaper, but when I hear the videos on the web, I keep thinking “that’s what I want.”

Brakes are awesome. Only can compare to my Dyna, but I like them a lot.
In the end, I feel as though I have a good feel for the bike now, and I love it. Still make some little mistakes here and there – I’m sometimes not very smooth with the clutch or throttle, but it’s only sometimes. Funny, at times I nail perfect friction zone U-turns, other times I’m headed for the grass! My fault, not the bike’s.

For me, the bags have been a game-changer. I do all kinds of stuff with my bike, as I can fit errand items in there, but also keep my rain gear, and other stuff, so I can be ready for whatever lies ahead . . .

. . . and finding out what that is, for me, is why I ride.

Glad you're enjoying the bike.

I had Supertrapp Stouts on my bike. They are EPA rated at 92 Db, but have a throaty sound. After awhile even that got too loud for me so I put the stock muffs back on. In some ways it sounds weak, but overall I like the quiet now.

Moral - try the next louder step but hang on to the original exhaust.

For rear suspension let me recommend SuperShox, they are great!

I just traded my Cop Glide in for a new '17 FLHXS. I couldn't resist the new engine. I rode my FLHTP for over 5 years. That's a really long time to keep a bike for me. I loved that bike! Sold it (traded in) and got my purchase price minus $700 after riding daily for 5 years. Cop Glides are some of the best values available in the Harley world.

Most late model Road King parts will bolt right up for you. However, Cop Glides are fairly specific in a few areas. Electrical harnesses are one of them. There's a great forum for retired police bikes. Google it, or send a PM to me if you haven't found it already..
