I never looked at being a poser (poseur) as a bad thing. It is where some people are and some manage to stay there while others grow out of it. For years as a young man, I wanted to be a poser, a wild one Brando bad ***, the poser of my day. Then Dennis Hopper. I was a bit of a wreck then, so Peter Fonda was just to squeaky neat and clean, carried too much baggage while Dennis, paranoid and all was much freer, at least when I was high it seemed that way. After those two characters, I pretty much gave up on posing. I loved the movie Then came Bronson, but I never liked him or wanted to be like him, except to be able to rebuilt my motorcycle in a day with just a screwdriver and pliers.

Its hard to live like Peter or Dennis did in the movie, hell, it was hard for them, look at how it ended. But I think being "really Free" today is almost impossible. The police would still harass you riding through town, especially if you stayed too long. No man, keep moving would be the plan Im thinking. I suppose what Im trying to say is, that movie is inspirational, but to try and do it , like they did, today, would be a disappointment.
you know how many people who have bikes as opposed to those who don't and wish they could. it's your life, do what you want with it, life is to short to worry about what other people think of you
