Hey Doc and AL....... great to hear from you.
You might have seen I'm taking a 3-day solo run starting tomorrow through..........wait for it................
Iowa !
MO River run that is...... on da west side of the state. Should be a good time.
Not like riding the Smokies though.
You be mighty careful out there Stan....Them other bikes in Iowa likely never seen anything as futuristic as The Fuglybike.....likely they'll all be jealous an could cause problems tryin ta get a better look!!!!
Have fun & be careful.
Family reunions... I have a photo somewhere with around a couple dozen relatives, at least 4 generations, with me in the youngest. Might be 4 or 5 of us left now. A couple younger than me aren't around anymore, too. Dad's side of the family, even worse on Mom's side, I'm the family elder on that branch.
Coastie, in 1967 was down there with an Army bud visiting his family. Took me to the Alamo at night, said I'd be surprised how different it was. Different all right, was a gay hangout and pickup place. He thought it was funny. I didn't. San Antonio used to be a rough place, got in nasty confrontations both times I went there, never went back after that.
Thanks for the heads up, a lot of USAF vets there, and a lot of older grey beard vets with their heads down and fighting back tears standing off to the side of the information wall pondering the odds and seeing in their mind's eye what must have come down the pike as our guys were out numbered over 20 to one when the Mexicans charged out of the morning darkness in military formation. 33 volunteers had joined them from the smoky mountain region and there were women and children to defend in what was not much more then a stone mission church and some small outlying walls. They only had a week or so to dig in and about 3 captured canon, hardly a match for Santa Ana's federal troops numbering over as many as two thousand. He hoisted a red battle flag indicating no quarter asked for or given and massacred the defenders as they fought to the last man and later captured another company of Texian troops and killed all the prisoners there too. Overheard a couple of fellows talking within earshot of my fiance that this was an immigration problem way back then as Santa Ana's territory was assailed by the white Americans in an amazing twist of irony. Still it is a sacred site where determined men fought for their freedom from a ruthless dictatorship and the price of freedom was paid in blood. God Bless Texas and America...

I'm thinkin my long trips are bout done this year....got toooo much stuff comin up right now.
I may not even get the chance ,my search showed me some things to look for on the 08 sg and I'm not sure where on the bike to look!! the throttle body nipple is easy, but there was a recall on a fuel filter shell?? where the hell would that be on a sg?? also look for an oil leak nearer the primary case and the starter.....and pinched wires under the seat........I think that's it.
Hey Rocketeer I also have an 08 so pm me yer # and I'm sure I can prolly help out. Pretty sure the fuel filter is inside the tank in an assembly bracket that includes the pump. I found a video on Utube that helped me change out a pinhole leak in the fuel line in the tank on my 03 Road King. The oil leak would prolly be referring to the shifter shaft seal behind the inner primary in the trans case. You can buy a bettter one with a dual lip oil seal aftermarket.
