Ready for the Next Ride . . . .
Just a few pictures of my 1200C now that it is "fully Bagged" . . for now.
I wanted to stay with a bit smaller scale bags for the Sportster and something that went well with the stock Custom design. I think the Leather Pros work well with that in mind.
I think I'm about done for any mods for this season, except I think I want to order some Progressive 412 12" HD shocks. It may not look like it, but the saddles bags and trunk bag , along with the sissy bar/luggage rack/mounting plates, and back rest adds about 56lbs. . . Plus the 2up Sundowner seat. I think a half inch more length and bit more travel will help.
I just picked up the matching Leather Pros Trunk Bag last Sunday and just installed it. Here it is all cleaned up for the next ride . . .

So it seems the Progressive 12" maybe with HD springs will fit the bill.

I've only riden 2up once and that was without the bags. . . about 38lbs less without them. The 1200C still has the stock shocks. I have them set +2 clicks up from the bottom and they are adequate for just me on the bike, but not two up and not with much in the bags. Because the bags are leather covered hard bags of thermo plastic innards and sculpted very closely to the stick springs, I need to stay with similar sized shocks, springs at least in diameter. RK shocks and airs are too bulky plus I don't fancy spending $400 or $500.
So it seems the Progressive 12" maybe with HD springs will fit the bill.

RK shocks can be purchased in like new condition for $100+ If size is a concern, I guess you need to look at Progressives or Ohlins but you will pay more than 400-500 for a good set.

Mmmm. .. I do not think so. As I said, the stock shocks with just me and the bags on it are adequate set +2 clicks. A bit more travel and a little heavier spring set at "0" clicks should be fine. And for 2up, a couple clicks up I believe will do it. Progressive 12" with HD springs are what I am thinking. It is a mixed bag regarding shock/spring reviews and opinions, but the 412;s seem like they will work.
I do believe I will also get Progressive front springs also, and perhaps change to some better fork oil.

Nice looking configuration on that Sportster. I like the extra 'Primary' back rest. Is that removable or fixed?

The backrest is adjustable fore/aft and up/down. The bags are Boss Bags and have served me well through two Sportsters and years of use.
My only wish is that my bike would be red like yours.

Looks like a Mustang wide vintage solo with backrest and passenger pillon. I have a wide tripper solo with backrest and passenger pillon...love the backrest so much I am getting getting rid of my tripper fastback 2-up since I do no intend to use it anymore. Wish I could use the vintage solo for more comfort but it would raise me off the ground too much...arg.
