Makes me think of the "Tron" Light Bike scene. . . .

Nice, and greetings from a fellow PA resident. I've lived here all my life, and am always amazed when I hear of a new place I never heard of.

I'm sorry to say my shock absorber "upgrade" didn't work out so well. I can barely tell a difference between the 11.5" stock shocks and the 12" Progressives. 5% better, maybe. I have the preload at the lowest setting (no preload). When I sit on the bike, the bike drops 1/2" which is within recommended range (1/2-3/4").

I feel every bump in the road. When I hit serious "speed bump" type protrusions in the road, it's like being hit in the @ with a baseball bat. I know Progressive 412s are entry level suspension parts, but everyone talks about them being "so much better than stock." Not in my case.

So that was $230 down the crapper. Oh well. I might actually put the stock shocks back on and eBay the Progs.

IMHO, it's hard to beat the 12" air-over-oil Street Glide shocks for ~$100
or so on Flebay. If you're tall, go for the 13" Road Glides.

hth,

Adjust the pre-load to mid position and see if that helps before throwing in the towel. I've gone through more pair of shocks then anything with this bike.
HD springs on the 412's worked best for me.

Sorry to hear the 412 did not meet your expectations....as Guzzi suggested play with the settings before getting rid of it, You may find a setting that improves the ride.

When I was looking, I had doubts the 412 would make a significant difference so I looked at the 944 and 970 and ohlins but all were too pricey for my taste.....went with SG 11.5 air/oil shocks for $125. Worth every penny.

OK, I'll try some different settings. I've heard about the RG shocks but I really don't know what I'm looking for. Could you post a link to an example or two from EvilBay?

try checking out this thread. there are pics and part numbers of various shocks. Post #23 is the one I picked up. Post #53 has a list of the different air/oil shock lengths from different bikes.

I don't notice it on my bike. However I had a buddy follow me and check it out under various conditions. It is much more visible and from the side, yes, the wheels look like tron. The brightness of the lights can be adjusted, turned off, and the color changed.
