Banff Springs Hotel is an old Canadian-Pacific Railroad hotel. The train tracks run right into the hotel. What an amazing place.

So what???
They are still the depth of sears tower. They receded a few hundred yards.
The photo they showed, I though showed was black and white. I though the period was a lot longer. Were you there in the 80s?

Where you there in the 80s?

dating back as early as 1890 show the toe of the Athabasca Glacier has retreated 1.5 kilometres, leaving a moonscape of gravel and rock behind

Since 1992, the snout of the glacier has retreated about 200 metres

Truly an outstanding place to visit , Back in 1980 I was there in Canmore One of the most memorable was the helicopter ride through Jasper although the ride was just 40 min well breath taking would be one word to describe the wonder of this area oh and the wild life was everywhere , Love to go back and do it on my Harley .

I was there for the first time in the late 70's with my parents. we rode a big balloon tire equipped tour bus up onto the glacier and they let us get out and walk around. been by there in every decade since including last summer on the bike. even when I was a kid you had to walk a long ways from the glacier parking area west of the highway to get to the ice.

Just seems you are exagerating, how much it has receded.

I've only be been there twice, both times on my bike. Took the snow coach up on the glacier once. I suggest people do that.
