I totally agree and also found the story riveting. Thought it was pretty shitty of Indian to do what they did, but that's how it's been throughout history. I must confess IF I was ever considering an Indian, learning this about them discouraged it.

Polaris is just trying to claim some sort of glory based on the name. The original Indian motorcycle company was out gone before many of us were even born.

I think it was creative licence for the most part, as from what I can tell there wasn't any sort of major litigation by Indian or any other firm towards HD apart from a certain court case.
If they settled out of court as stated in the series, there would be no court records. They got their info from the HD archives in Milwaukee. Business to business settlements happen a lot as court decisions can put people out of business.
