Why I shouldn't be allowed to turn a wrench... Or, my oil cooler install.

I think putting an oil cooler on an HD would be a PITA even for a guy who wrenches for a living. There's more room on a Road King and it was a bastage when I did it so, don't be too hard on yourself trying to install one on a Dyna.
Very honestly, it's not that hard to install and I'm no pro wrench If Mchad had posted he was going to install his oil cooler I'd have warned him about the isolator bolts being too short. The only issues I ever ran in to were the supplied hose and clamps were absolutely not up to the task; upgrading to Gates 400 PSI reinforced oil cooler hose and fuel injection clamps solved my only negatives

You missed it Tin. Although I was asking about switched power, in very small text I did say it was for an oil cooler install. Be more observant next time dammit! JK of course.
I picked up some 1 1/4 and 1 1/2" grade 8 from my local Ace hardware. I'll probably be "sick" tomorrow to get it finished.
So I got one opinion with loctite, one without. Guess it doesn't matter that much as other bolts, as they are lock washers in use, but I will prob put a bit on anyway.
I had my share of fun with ultracool. Customer support is very good, however I'm wondering if aluminum radiator and steel clamps are the best design. When I first did it, I guess I didn't torque hoses enough - got oil bath on frreway. Tried to torque and cross threaded it lightly, oil was dripping little by little. Was driving me crazy, so I attempted to fix it and killed thread completely. Got new radiator from ultracool, made super sure I didn't cross thread them, but guess what - still did, no idea how, not that much though. Oil not dripping, so I said f@#$k it and left it alone. Sad part - my bike is still hot. Even with oil cooler, flo filter hit 280 on tipple digit days in city. Need to say though that I didn't have digital dipstick before, so not sure what it was prior to install.
Sorry man, I didn't see that post. I'm trying to achieve omnipotence, tho. Once achieved I'll be harsh, but fair...
I honestly don't think you're out of line using loctite on the isolator bolts at all. I'll bet the 1 1/4" bolts will be what you want. Follow the torque spec on the isolator bolts and you're going to be worry-free
Why doesn't HD have an oil cooler already?
I'm sure they know it gets hot enough.
I mean were in 2016.
I like that the adapter had flared fittings to secure thew oil lines.
Have the Jagg slimline vertical that wasn't easy but seems to be easier then yours.
Had to use longer screws on the adapter with the stop added to keep the adpter from twisting off at oil filter change.
Modified my Jagg to fit An-8 fittings and stainless steel hoses that do not leak.
I'm not a fan of mounting an oil cooler where my front tire can pelt it with rocks but that;s me.
keep an eye out for leaks for sure and be ready when it happens,
I got a wake up call.
For my winter project I was planning to install an Jag cooler, but I was going to go with the vertical mount version instead of the one the mounts down low.
Whatever Jagg oil cooler you go with upgrade the hose to Gates reinforced 400 PSI oil cooler hose and #7051227 fuel injection hose clamps; you can get both of those at any local NAPA store inexpensively and they're far superior to the supplied hose and clamps...

I appreciate your opinion! Suggestion noted. Thanks Tincup.

Yeah I heard about those problems. How long ago was that? They changed manufacturers of their fittings to address the leaks I was told (by them).
Also, I read that those fittings most often leak when over tightened. I was told (and read on aeroquip's site) that one to one and a half flats worth of turn once bottoming is all it needs...
