Well added this to the stable today. Got it for the wife. Talk about a garage queen. 2012 647mi. Guess the situation was guy got sick and couldnt ride anymore about a month after he bought it. Feel bad for him but could happen to any of us someday so I count my blessings. Glad I was out and about today riding since Im on vacation or I never would have seen it before somebody snatched it up. She hates the studs on the bag sides. Anybody got any ideas or things you did to change them short of new bags?

There are a lot of jokes I can think of in relation to your post, but I will refrain from that.
Best thing to do is sell the bags on eBay. Since they are in good shape, you will get top dollar for them. Use that money to put towards Boss Bags. I think anything involving removal of the studs is going to look like crap because there will be all the puncture marks left on the leather, unless you covered the puncture marks up with a decorative leather strip or something.
Maybe take them to a leather shop or a tack shop.
A few months ago I was looking for new bags. I eventually found some but it just goes to show that there is a market for them.
You could also give Boss Bags a call. Since they install bag stiffeners and new straps, they might be able to do something about the studs for you.
Another option might be replacing all those chrome or stainless studs with black ones. That way it is more subtle.
If she hates the studs then convert them over to hard bags.
There's a active thread going on right now listing where to get a hard bag setup that's painted vivid black for around $300.
I would set on it for a while and see if the studs grow on her.
They did with me.
Also, you might want to check to see if the voltage regulator has been replaced.
I believe there was a recall for 2012 models.
If it wasn't changed, I'd upgrade to the Cycle Electric regulator.

Nice bike Glyder54. I live in an area where that kind of thing happens all too frequently (health issues), it's unfortunate but it is reality. I just bought mine 3 weeks ago, 2015 with 7 miles (6.4 to be exact). If it hadn't been for a qwerky turn of events I would not have come across it.
Im gonna strip it down to a Deluxe and see if she if she likes it like that. Take off bags, back seat and backrest get and some chrome bolts for the fender. She aint crazy about the bars either. Go figure...women...lol
Nice, as for the bags, sell em, don't butcher em. Compare eBay's prices what they're worth after fees, etc., and ask that.
Heritage and saddlebags, my thoughts are search Heritage custom photos until you find what attracts y'all's eyes and go from there. Everyone has an opinion what looks good but you know how that goes, we all have one...*grinz
Why does she hat the bags. They are so classic looking. I changed my seat to a Mustang seat with backrest and wider seat for the wife. She loves it! The new seat made a world of difference for both of us. Ride Safe!
