Ya know, some members think we are just being an *** when we come down on the PayPal thing with either "Gift" or "Friends & Family". But there is a reason for that.
Glad to see you are making progress here !
Personally I get really skittish when a seller says the gift or family thing. If they're that cheapskate-minded that 3 bucks on a hundred dollar transaction gives them pause I want no parts of them.

I kind of go both ways,,, wait,,, not like that! I mean with PP. If there is something not too expensive I will do a gift or FF,, but anything over $50, I will pay the fee, even if the guy says Gift. I will just add 3% and let him know I did that. Worth it to me.

Yup.
I ran the eBay forum on a big web site for years. This is a major, major "just run away" red flag.
1. If the seller demands that you pay the PP fees, he's simply a cheapskate, and in violation of his PP agreement, which may or may not matter to you. You can go ahead and pay the 3% if you want the item, but he's a bit sketchy. I've gone ahead and paid the fees as a buyer a few times, and been fine. ymmv.
On the other hand...
2. If the seller demands that you use Friends and Family, he very well could be a crook who's setting you up to get screwed, and making sure you won't be able to do anything about it. Run.
Paypal ended up refunding my return shipping as well.
I hope people see that it's worth the few extra dollars to do it the right way and pay as buying goods, not gifts.
