I have a tender on another bike and for 7.5 years if I wasn't riding the deltron tender was hooked up and the battery is still fine and its a yusa , its a fact the newer generation of battery's aren't what they used to be IMO, remember the Sears die hard ?

i pulled all my batteries off the tenders yesterday and checked voltage 13.0 today they are still at 12.9 or 13.0. i can see what he's talking about. i'm going to continue to shut my chargers off for a couple of days a week, sure can't hurt. one other question, a buddy of mine just bought two centek float chargers from HF, any good ? he's a cheap skate and won't pop for the deltran tenders.

doesn't matter who makes em or what labels on em, too many variables can cause em to go bad I've had hd last 2-7 years and the same for off label batteries.

I have been keeping the deltran tender (1.25 amp) on my 2017 Limited for a month now. I believe once it's charged, it maintains the battery at 13.1 volts. I left it off the tender for 24 hours. Battery voltage went down to 12.64 volts. I have installed the
H-D security siren and pager on the bike. Must be quite the drain on these new bikes.

"when you read page 5 of your policy, did it say blah, blah....blah, blah, blah". I've had AGM batteries last 5-6 years on tenders. sitting through our winters and they are still in the bikes. The battery in the 2013 FLTRU is 4 y/o now and still going strong. There is a recommendation from HD to use a smart charger on the AGM battery, did I buy theirs? I buy mine from Deltran and they replace them under warranty when they fail.

My "Big Crank" (lololol) is going on 6 years old and is still going pretty strong from what I can tell?
If I am at home it is on the tender year round.

I replaced the starter clutch here a year ago.

All of the HD Batteries are Deka anyway is my understanding.
You could have bought one of those?

"Always on a tender" I assume failure was an AGM battery? Is the tender a dedicated AGM tender? If not it will toast your AGM if used full time plugged in.

Just be sure your charger is temperature compensated and it has a special charging algorithm optimized for sealed, gas-recombinant, AGM, lead acid batteries, and you'll be fine. Nothing to it.

My bike starts with out a tender, the battery holds a charge. I'm with Wscott tenders can cook them. Winter store inside charge middle winter once and just before going back in bike. It probly would start bike with out those two charges a year. I store a car outside no tender, start it once a month or later in some cases as the roads need to be dry to take it for a spin around sub, car has never needed a charge. Gave that battery to daughter last year got myself new delco. The interstate battery that was in there when I bought car went threw 5 years like that never missed a beat. Can't imagine plugging in bike after every ride, what a pain that would be. My dad does it too though he has two cars on tenders right now for most likely 6 mo. while being snow bird.
