Default Who's running wide glide fork tubes on a street bob or superglide?

Recently installed 13.25" rear shocks. Considering swapping my stock fork tubes for longer wide glide tubes. Eventually I plan to get the Andreani cartridges. For now I'm running the traxxion straight rate spring with ricor intiminators. I would just get a longer spacer to make up for the longer tubes.

Who's running a similar set-up? Big difference in handling? Is the extra ground clearance noticeable? Interested in hearing pros/cons from folks who have already made the swap. I assume you also get more suspension travel which may also be a benefit when going to the cartridge set-up later on.

Thanks.

I run wide glide tubes with Andreani cartridges on my FXDB, there's another guy on here that does too. The cartridges are great, especially with my less than stellar spine. Handling with 13.5" shocks in the rear is similar to stock but there's a difference between having stock tubes up front with longer rears, the bike would seem to turn a bit sharper with the stock tubes. The biggest thing now is instead of scraping pegs in a lot of turns I simply don't now. I still scrape but it's rare, the extra height up front makes a substantial difference in ground clearance. In short, wide glide tubes are worth it for ground clearance alone and the cartridges are probably one of the best things I've done on my bike aside from upgrading the brakes.

Exactly the feedback I was looking for. Thank you!

Is there a picture of your set-up somewhere on the forum?

Right now I'm running 13 3/8" Ohlins with stock tubes and Andreani cartridges on my Fat Bob, and I ride the hell out of this thing and rarely scrape. Initially I was thinking I would want to go with longer fork tubes, but I like having the quicker handling front end. But if you scrape a lot then you'll have to decide for yourself. But before dumping money into longer tubes it might be worth testing out how it feels with some fork tube extensions instead: http://www.dynaholics.com/product/dy...ork-extensions

That's a good point. I do like the quicker steering and don't really have issues scraping anymore with the longer shocks. I just want to make sure I'm settled on tube length before I spring for the cartridges. Thanks for your help.

I'm running 13.5" rear and wide glide length tubes on the front. You don't NEED a longer jiffy stand, but it wouldn't hurt. Bunk King makes a block for that. It takes a lot more before I drag pegs, but my bike has some serious lean now, however.

Thanks.

Nope. I've got Traxxion Dynamics single-rate springs (.090 kg, it think), Speed Merchant preload adjuster fork caps. And had Ricor Intiminators in there but took them out trying to dial the suspension but I think I'll be putting them back in and messing with fork oil, again (Amsoil shock therapy in there now).

I'm running the same set-up with the intiminators. Going to try the Amsoil 5wt shock therapy to see how it compares to the 10wt I'm running now.
