It's all about image now, not a way of life.
Perception is reality.
People drive expensive cars and live in large houses, yet they're cash poor to keep up the illusion.
A Biker leaves their 1200 sq ft home, gets on the H-D, and rides into the mountains to a lookout point with a flask of whiskey.

never bought into the lifestyle thing. we rode and wrenched all the time, even when on the road. did'nt have a choice. camped all the time on the bikes and would have never had a radio or windshield on a bike.

there was a time when i said i would never have a bike with shocks on it. things change with age.

For me it's the bikes mixed with therapy. I've modified everything I've ever owned starting with a skateboard as a kid. My wife reckons I'm obsessed with Harleys. I spend three weeks of the month away working interstate to pay the bills so when I get home I drop the bags and head back out the door for a ride. A couple of hours riding around the twisty roads of Tasmania clears away all the $h!t from the previous three weeks and helps me settle back into home life. As long as you're out there enjoying yourself who gives a $h!t.
