Let me start from opposing side it may help generating other questions.

Upon gutting my cat from head pipe, the slight increase in sound from stock mufflers was still not what I'm looking for. My riding bud has a 3 1/2" slip-on Vance & Hines, like the sound over stock mufflers, but not exactly what I was looking for. Made a decision to try the 4" Rinehart slip-ons, I'm very glad, as their sound is low & deep and not too loud. Was considering the 2 into 1 set up at one point, but don't care for the imbalance look, or their sound comparing to duals, I suppose I'm a symmetrical kind of biker... lol.

I had rinehart true duels on my 07 RK, loved the sound but the routing of the exhaust ran across the wifes anke. It got pretty hot. My new bike (13 SG) still has stock exhaust. Haven't decided what I want yet, but won't go with true duels that have the same routing.

I have had the Rinehart 2 into 1 on my Electra glide for about 2 years and over 20000 miles. I love it. Great sound, low and deep rumble. Not too loud while cruising down the highway but gives a good rumble when you open it up. Sounds like a muscle car. Excellent low end performance and no loss in performance up top compared to the Rinehart true duals I ran before.

Imo there are better 2-n-1's out there than the Rineharts, such as Rush Wrath, Dragos, D&D Fatcat, even V&H's Pro-pipe and Fuel-Moto's just to name a few. I think baggers mag. installed some pipes and ran them without tunes that shows the difference in some if you want to look.

I just checked out BM. Didn't see the Reinhart. Only seen 3. But was a little surprised how much the Pro Pipe beat out the Fuel Moto pipe.

For a stage one. I thinks it's about looks and sound. The differences in HP and TQ are not going to be that dramatic on the butt dyno.

I'm getting a 2-1 in the spring. Considering the Dragon and Debbie or the Bassani B4. I like the looks of the bends. Possibly the Pro Pipe. Just have to hear some in person.

I have used in the 2-1 Dragos Dragula, Dragula2, D & D, & Bassani B-4. I seriously looked at the Rinehart 2-1 because my dealer was offering a great price on them at the time. My tuner showed me many dyno charts on tunes he had done and both the Thunder Header and Rinehart had big dips in the torque curve, surprisingly enough the others didn't and were so close in the numbers they produced it wasn't funny. Sound, I personally liked the Bassani the best, looks I like my Dragula 2.

Stock 96" 08 SG. Ness big sucker stage 1 and a PC-V. Bike ran great for 40k after this tune.

Looks and sound are all personal preference of course, but I think many including myself like the symmetrical look of a muffler on each side under the bags on the touring models. That may be why you don't see as many 2 into 1's.

I'm running the Rinehart 2:1 and have been pretty pleased with it so far, torque curve was nice and smooth and the sound of the 2:1 is just a bit louder and deeper than a Rinehart 2/1/2 with the 4" pipes.

They were substantially cheaper than the other 'boutique' brands but the quality is top notch and they have both 12 & 18mm bungs, so work beyond just a stage1... with my 107" and moderate cams with my ECM closed loop setup.

When I was doing the initial installation the kit included the wrong heat shield at the junction point. A call to Rinehart directly and they over-nighted the right parts, so their customer service got good marks as well.

It appears many posters have not mentioned break in period, very important when judging sounds.

Speaking from past experiences (depending on riders aggressive tendencies) will have a greater influence in sound over conservative riders.

I consider myself as a 80/20, 80% conservative with the occasional 20% need for speed. With that said, my 4" Rinehart's w/chrome tips (if that makes any difference or not), got 15% louder after 2,000 to 2,200 miles or "after break in" comparing to when first installed.

So don't be soooo disappointed if your new exhaust doesn't sound good right out of the box...... Unless you have straight through pipes, or drag pipes (they are way too loud for me IMHO). FYI - do not require a break in period.
